Barefoot and on the Lookout
And a poem about these recent photos (shot on late afternoon hikes out of Santiago Oaks . . . )
Another Wholesome Hobby
Instead of posing with celebrities
my bare and dusty hiking feet seek out
photo ops with lizards, shiny beetles
and the hairiest of local tarantulas.
Why I am obsessed with sidling up
to creature stunned (now I’m imagining)
by the smooth pink tootsies looming in their path
is a topic for my shrink. In the meantime
I’ll tote my camera, persistent paparazza
always on the lookout for a rattler.
