From yesterday’s hike at Santiago Oaks. I like the element of chance involved in shooting these kinds of photos…the camera is right side up, but I’m bent over and unable to really see what’s in the viewfinder. I’m always happy to catch a little horizon for perspective . . .
Also from yesterday’s hike, a Southern Pacific rattler (you’ll notice my toes are nowhere near this one). He was parked off to the side of the trail (definitely startled me when I realized what I had just strolled past!) and didn’t move the whole time I was trying to capture his patterned brilliance on my pocket-sized Canon SD960 IS.
