What’s in bloom after six months of no rain

Hiking this afternoon at Santiago Oaks on Mountain Goat and Bumblebee Trails: still a few blooms trailside. I especially admire these plants which can provide pollen and nectar for the local insects–and colorful contrast to all their dormant cousins– at this dusty time of year.
