Back from Billy Meadows

July 19, 2011

It would be hard to top last month’s three weeks of wandering and writing at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon…but ten days of doing the same in northeastern Oregon’s Wallowa County–the Zumwalt prairie, Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, Eagle Cap Wilderness–is a close second.

Thank you Fishtrap for giving me a reason to visit this spectacular region: Summer Fishtrap’s Outpost Writing Workshop with “Butterfly Bob” Pyle at the Billy Meadows Guard Station, deep in the forest . . .

in the company of crazy kindred nature writers . . .

Now it’s time to look through (and probably transcribe) all the journaling from this summer, work on some poems, and do some more barefoot hiking.

“It’s just a flesh wound . . . “

Hi Thea! I just found this writing. Oh, it takes me back. I am starting some kind of piece in honor of the Meadows days. I’m not sure what it will be yet, but I’ll let you know when it’s done. Hope your toe healed! (or is it “heeled”?). Take care, friend!
